Can there be common ground between Democrats and Republicans?

When you have a culture war an ideology war on which direction this Country is going I would say no.
Both sides are worried about freedoms and rights being taken away. One side sees guns and the religious right as a threat to freedom. You have the right to kill the unborn but you do not have the right to kill criminals threatening your life. The other side see freedom of religion being threatened and removed from the foundation of this Country.
I am sure most know why there is separation of Church and State. Religious oppression has taken a huge chuck of Christian history. The separatists have and continue to take this definition to uproot the very foundation of our laws which are founded on the laws of God wrote with his very hand and handed down to Moses. Sure there are those who think Bible is a work of fiction and they have the right. And those who do believe also have the right and freedom to do so.
What are you willing to tolerate to make common ground? Or does it have to be what are you willing to give up to have common ground? One side can say this is a battle of good vs. evil. Another side can say this is a battle over freedoms, rights, and humanitarian responsibilities. Which side is wrong? I don’t think any side is wrong I think the sides have been polarized over simple issues that rarely change.
Education is a big issue yet most of the federal involvement is on the state level and most school boards are corrupted by federal funding and lack of accountability. The politicians always promise change yet what can they do but throw money at the so called problem. Perhaps they should regularly audit the city level and force board members to do their jobs. What is the deal with pervert teachers what sort of screening do we have today? Why should we have to screen teachers today what is going wrong with America today? I think I know. It goes back to the foundation of America and the moral compass we were taught and navigate through life with.
We all have choices to make no matter which side of the political spectrum we are on.
For the record I did not vote for anyone until President Bush was up for a second term. I personally didn’t like him much as a leader when he came into office in 2000. In 2004 I voted for the first time a leader who pissed off the world and did what had to be done despite the constant criticism won my vote. If the world hates you you must be doing something right. Oh how the media love to bash the President and those who don’t are accused of being political propagandists say Fox News.
Its getting harder and harder to bash Bush when Congress keeps dropping the ball. Take for example Congress says we support the troops yet they vote and are vetoed to cut funding and leave out troops high and dry in harms way. I am still looking for the real leadership they promised. I am looking for the new direction which seems to be cut and run. If they are so passionate about the war why did they vote to give war powers to the President. Why did each one over the past 15 plus years say exactly what the President said and stand in unity over the issue in 2003? Why? Oh it was the WMDs stupid. The WMDs are a small part of the problem which opens a whole a can of worms with the same old tired argument Bush lied and so did I. Thats not what they say directly but it is what they say.
Why has American jobs gone to other countries? Can you say going global? In the 90’s the race to go global and legal monopolies began. The great American sell off began, foreign companies bought out a lot of American companies. Telecom lead the way in moving to Mexico and China while huge losses in Europe had to be compensated. In Europe it was illegal to lay off workers without costly compensations being paid. So the great American layoff began to compensate for the outrageous pay of some Europeans.
John Kerry was aware of this fact yet he formed his whole campaign around Iraq and Jobs. The Euro was developed to rival the dollar. Iran and China flooded the black market with counterfeit bills. So our stores were forced to buy pens to detect these bills to cut down losses. The Treasury introduces all new bills whit new designs to counter the fake bills. America has been under attack on many levels all you have to do is look at the signs.
This is the world we live in where money means more than life itself does.
Ah and the Global warming scam never did buy into that hog wash. Now yes there are environmental changes and yes there is pollution but the Kyoto Accord was meant to punish just America while Russia, China, and India all gained to profit from this scam. It is much more complex than I am willing to go. The U.N. Now has to find another money making scam and so they did with taxation of deep sea treasures and resources. The next war will be fought beneath the sea over the next wave of wealth. Which candidate is willing to fight for what is rightly ours?
What do you think is America heading for a great depression as some would have you believe or is America heading back to the top unrivaled by any nation with new found wealth.
Is the glass half full of half empty. This is a simple difference in Right vs. Left. Pessimism and doom vs. hope and victory.
