The first in a series of Ministry of Defence UFO files, dating back to the 1970s, have been released on The National Archives’ website today, Wednesday 14 May 2008.
The files include descriptions of alleged Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon or “UFO” sightings and subsequent MOD evaluations of the reports.

The Lebanese army expanded its troop deployment to several tense areas around the country Tuesday, hours after it said soldiers will use force if needed to impose order after almost a week of clashes between the Western-backed government and Hezbollah-led opposition.
Also Tuesday, Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal said that Iran’s support for Hezbollah’s “coup” in Lebanon will affect Tehran’s relations with Arab and Islamic countries.

Violence in Iraq’s Kirkuk province has dropped by 70 percent, and coalition and Iraqi forces have “virtually destroyed” al-Qaida in Iraq in the region, the commander of the U.S. brigade combat team in the area said May 12.
